I am a licensed counselor who has enjoyed 13 years in the field of mental health. My passion for helping others find happiness and make the most of their lives continues to grow every day. I feel honored to be able to do this work and inspired by the ability of human beings to harness their resilience and make lasting changes that impact every area of their lives. In my free time I enjoy travel, live music, and spending time with my wife and two kids.
I started Southside Counseling & Therapy based on my personal commitment to providing high-quality counseling and mental health services to adults, adolescents, couples, and families. I pride myself on my unique ability to connect with people and to create an atmosphere of trust, comfort, and understanding. This environment allows you to fully express yourself without fear of judgement. I'm here to listen to you and I'm here to understand you. But I am also here to help you understand yourself.
My approach to counseling and therapy is evidence-based, person-centered, and solution-focused. I use an integrative approach which incorporates elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as humanistic, narrative, and strengths-based therapies. I place great emphasis on building a strong therapeutic connection and tailoring my approach to the unique needs of each individual.
I specialize in treating anxiety and depression, but am experienced in helping individuals with a wide array of therapeutic needs. I have helped people struggling with major depression, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety, substance abuse, seasonal affective disorder, and panic disorder, among other conditions. I also have had tremendous success helping people with "non-clinical" problems including relationship conflicts, interpersonal problems, difficulties adjusting to life transitions, social media and internet-related stress, and school and occupational concerns. I am also passionate about helping men and adolescent boys navigate issues of masculinity and working to break down the stigma around mental health.
